Ancient inscriptions are important historical and archeological evidence that record the history of the past societies. At the same time, ancient inscriptions served as primary sources in various academic works. Although there are numerous publications of Thai inscriptions reading, but the integration of contents in the inscriptions has been challenging to study. This publication is the work that Ajarn Cha-ame Kaewglai has compiled historical information that appears in various inscriptions into one continuous content. It’s rare to find anyone who has the ability and experience to do so. In the books Ajarn Cha-ame also shows the evolution of ancient characters that appear in the various inscriptions. Futhermore, he provides determinations for reading suspicious inscriptions that can be considered as a model for reading inscriptions for student as well.
Our institute published “Charuk Wicak Vol. 1, 2” (Inscriptions comprehension) because we has realized the immense value mentioned above. We hope books “Charuk Wicak Vol. 1, 2” (Inscriptions comprehension) will be beneficial to the Buddhism, the academic community and the world’s well-being according to the intentions of the author and of the institute.
จารึกโบราณเป็นหลักฐานสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์และโบราณคดีที่บันทึกเรื่องราวของสังคมในอดีต ในขณะเดียวกันจารึกโบราณก็เป็นแหล่งข้อมูลปฐมภูมิในงานวิชาการต่างๆ แม้ว่าผลงานการอ่านจารึกในประเทศไทยมีอยู่แล้วเป็นจำนวนมาก แต่บูรณาการของเนื้อหาในจารึกกลับศึกษาได้ยาก การเผยแพร่ครั้งนี้เป็นผลงานที่ท่านอาจารย์ชะเอม แก้วคล้าย ได้ประมวลข้อมูลทางประวัติศาสตร์ที่ปรากฏอยู่ในจารึกต่างๆเข้าไว้เป็นเรื่องราวต่อเนื่องกันยากที่จะหาท่านใดมีความสามารถและประสบการณ์พอจะกระทำขึ้นได้ ท่านอาจารย์ชะเอมยังได้แสดงวิวัฒนาการอักษรโบราณที่ปรากฏอยู่ในจารึกต่างๆ และรวบรวมข้อวินิจฉัยในการอ่านคำจารึกที่น่าสงสัยไว้ให้ด้วย ถือเป็นแบบอย่างสำหรับการอ่านจารึกสำหรับอนุชนได้อย่างดี
ทางสถาบันฯได้จัดพิมพ์ “จารึกวิจักษ์ ๑, ๒”เพราะตระหนักถึงคุณค่าของสาระต่างๆดังกล่าวแล้ว หวังว่าหนังสือ “จารึกวิจักษ์ ๑, ๒” นี้จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อพระศาสนา วงวิชาการ และสังคมโลกสมตามเจตนารมณ์ของท่านเจ้าของผลงานและของสถาบันฯต่อไป
